Material: Red cedar, acrylic paint & beeswax finish
Dimensions: 60" width x 6.5" tall
Design: This incredible piece is a red cedar paddle titled “sGaana Kwah Agang" & signifies the moment when a killer whale’s fin breaches the water.
Its form line is inspired by the Naxiin weaving style. Within the paddle you can see a dorsal fin, blow hole & the elements that make up a sGaana (killer whale). When it is paddled in the water, it appears like a killer whale is riding with the canoe. The shape that flows off of the fin into the handle represents a wave. The finishing style, including a fractured paddle tip, is intentionally done to emulate the aesthetic of historical pieces from the 1800s.
