1.00

Eagle's Flight by Haida and Nisga'a carver and portrait artist, Steve L. Hansen, is carved of yellow cedar, red cedar, and alder and mounted on a thinly carved, but structurally durable feather of yellow cedar. The base and wing tips are red cedar. The head is carved of alder. When placed by light, the thinly carved feather is illuminated.

The details of the carving, such as carved faces within the eyes, intricately carved wing tips, and feather mounting, are what make this carving truly special.

The dimensions of Eagle's Flight are:

  • Head: 3 1/2 inches high, 3 1/4 inches deep, 2 1/2 inches wide
  • Each wing spans measures 4 inches across top
  • Top of carving to feather tip is 5 1/2 inches

The following photos were taken near the end of this carving's completion.
