Alphie is, unmistakably, one of the most important argillite carvers of our time and is virtually the only Haida artist that takes his creations from slate to a monumental state. "A Shaman in Two Worlds" infers the success of a shaman bridging the two worlds while in a state of shamanic chanting & prayer.

On the base bordered with traditional roping, ancestors are portrayed as mosquito and butterfly. The Shamans' bentwood box opens for medicines to be stored in. He is tattooed in eagle and bear crests and holds a soul catcher made from bone. Both pieces are removable from the base.

An ultimate piece for the serious collector of Shamanic Arts.
