Artist Statement:

"Hummingbirds are incredible creatures. They have the fastest wing beat of any bird, they are capable of hovering flight, and they travel thousands of kilometers in their annual migrations. Though they are small and delicately built, they embody perseverance and grit.

This print is small to algin with the hummingbird's compact size. I choose the multi-coloured palette to reflect the iridescent nature of its feathers. Its tongue undulates in relation to its repetitive, chirping call.

The hummingbird is a unique and important crest among certain Haida clans. This is testament to how highly we think of these extraordinary beings. Hummingbirds prove that you do not need to take up a lot of space in order to make a serious statement."
