This panel pipe is quite animated with imagination as you see a chief on his journey to an important event in another village bearing gifts and holding his Raven staff. Accompanied by his steersman (who is holding a bear rattle) and next seated to him is his wife. The bentwood boxes are carved with bear and sun crests.

The chief is also accompanied by a spokesman sitting at the bow. The bowl is in the bentwood box lid and yes this is a functional pipe.
