Argillite Killer Whale and Thunderbird Box by Ding Hutchingson - Haida Artist

The scene begins with a woman at the shoreline, unaware of the killer whale rising beneath her. In a single moment, she is lifted and carried into the whale’s underwater world while a thunderbird circles above, observing. In normal circumstances, a killer whale is a thunderbird’s prey, but instead, this scene captures the thunderbird’s curiosity and confusion, with four frogs from the underworld bearing witness.
