Tony Greene has been artistic for as long as he can remember. As a child, he liked to draw his own comics. As a teenager, he developed a keen interest in muscle cars and began drawing them for a hobby.

During his teen years he moved from Vancouver Island back to his hometown of Skidegate in Haida Gwaii. Upon his return home, he started focusing his skills on traditional Haida art. In addition to drawing, Tony paints Haida images on drums, wood carvings and woven cedar.

In 2000, Tony took up the art of metal carving. Much of the inspiration for his work comes from the islands’ surroundings, for example, places like SGang Gwaay Llnagaay (Ninstints), which is an ancient Haida village and UNESCO World Heritage Site in the sourthern islands of Gwaii Haanas.

Tony is a logger by profession and spends his off-hours creating art. He also spends time volunteering with the Skidegate elders and golfing.
