Inspiration Behind Dreamscapes: An original painting, Dreamscapes, was shaped during Allard’s time in Gwaii Haanas, a place known for its rich history, thriving ecosystems, and the presence of Haida culture. Spending time there offered her a chance to slow down and reconnect with her art and heritage in a landscape that feels otherworldly.

Surrounded by towering trees, quiet shorelines, and stories carried through the land, she began to see the world through a softer, more imaginative lens. This painting captures that feeling — the stillness, the wonder, and the hushed beauty of a place that seems to stand outside of time. It offers a window into that experience, calling back to the rare moments when nature, memory, and creativity meet. In this piece, Tl'ak'aa.uu (Goose Barnacles), plentiful in Gwaii Haanas tidal zones, frame the view.

Artwork by Haida Artist Danielle Louise Allard: Since childhood, Danielle has been interested in creating; drawing, painting and building, using any materials she could get her hands on. Continuing her artistic exploration through her youth eventually brought her to choose to study Fashion Design and Fine Arts in post secondary education. She currently resides in Masset, Haida Gwaii, to continue her study of Haida art, apprenticing with master carvers and artisans.
