Wasco Meaning: At its center is a two-finned Wasco (a legendary sea wolf known for its strength and speed) who has caught an Orca. You’ll see the Orca’s head above the Wasco, its body wrapping around as part of the composition, pulled into the scene as prey. The abalone inlay in the eyes adds expression and presence, giving life to them.
A museum-quality piece, this bracelet captures a moment in the Wasco's story. Bold and layered, this bracelet is a stand-out piece that is made to be celebrated.
Made by Haida artist, Jesse Brillon:
Jesse’s interest in Haida art began when he was a young boy, influenced strongly by his heritage. Jesse’s family presented him with a silver repoussé Shark bracelet by Haida artist Don Yeomans. This gift sparked Jesse’s desire to learn to carve. To start his training, Jesse apprenticed with Don in Vancouver. He then moved to Hazelton to study the art of repoussé with Gitxsan artist Philip Janze. Jesse’s jewelry making skills developed immensely during this time.
Jesse continues to create museum quality pieces individualized by their fineness, boldness, and depth. Jesse’s works are held in private collections globally and have exhibited across North America.
