Spend the summer on Haida Gwaii! This is your chance to get out of the city and experience a simpler way of life, nature, and wellness in one of the most beautiful places in Canada – the islands of Haida Gwaii.

If you’re positive and energetic, have a flair for sales, can connect easily with people from all walks of life, and are proactive and motivated, we might have the perfect position for you. We are hiring for a Gallery Sales Lead at Crystal Cabin Gallery’s Masset Airport location.  

Spend the summer meeting guests from around the world, handling some of the most beautiful art and jewelry by Haida, northwest coast, and local artists, and contributing to a socially-minded small business. 

The term of this contract is from May 24th to September 12th, 2024 for up to 30 hours/5 days a week during Haida Gwaii’s busy summer tourist season. Must be available to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, weekends, holidays, and during the music festival weekend. Shifts coordinate with local flight schedules, which typically start at 8am and commence by 2pm, giving you the afternoon free to enjoy the beauty of Haida Gwaii’s summers.

Terms: Part-time or full-time, up to 30 hours per week. Starting from $26.25/hour.

Location: Masset, British Columbia, V0T1M0

Qualifications: 

• 1+ years experience in sales or 1+ years experience working in an industry related to jewelry, art, design, fashion, aesthetics, beauty, or luxury goods
• Motivated and driven, with proven sales success or experience excelling in customer-facing role 
• At least 5 years of previous work experience required 
• Ability to think quickly on your feet, handle a busy sales environment, and prioritize when there are competing demands 
• Very good memory and talent for storytelling 
• Able to engage anyone in conversation, positive attitude, friendly demeanor, excellent customer service in person and by phone/email
• Responsible, professional, punctual, reliable, respectful & courteous personality 
• Can-do attitude, self-starter, and can troubleshoot independently, but also works well in a team
• Quick learner who can adapt to changing business needs and face challenges head on
• Strong organization and follow-up skills 
• Interest and knowledge in Haida and northwest coast artwork with a passion to take local artists internationally. 
• A champion of aesthetically beautiful items and luxury goods
• Tech savvy or possess a positive mindset to master our point of sale system & card processing technology 
• Reliable transportation to commute to the Masset Airport 

Roles & Responsibilities: 

• Consistently achieves and exceeds monthly store sales goals
• Memorization of key information about each piece, artist, and our brand story  
• Responsible for gallery cleanliness, organization, and merchandising displays 
• Pricing and managing stock levels and supplies and communicating low stocks to stock manager in a timely manner 
• Capturing pertinent customer information in face-paced environment 
• Providing appropriate follow-up on sales, client requests & custom orders 
• Attention to detail, including taking utmost care in storing, cleaning and displaying art pieces and the jewelry collection
• Maintain security standards to ensure safety and care of merchandise
