Bring your vision to life

Custom Jewelry Commissions

Work with Haida and Northwest Coast Indigenous artists to create a one-of-a-kind piece inspired by your story. Thoughtfully handcrafted to be treasured for generations.

Every Custom Piece of Jewelry Tells a Story

At Crystal Cabin Gallery, we work with local Haida and Northwest Coast Indigenous artists who handcraft one-of-a-kind rings, bracelets, pendants, and earrings in gold, silver, and copper. Whether you're looking for a meaningful gift, a wedding band or simply a piece of wearable art for yourself, we can create something that carries genuine meaning and craftsmanship. We're here to make the process easy, personal, and something you'll always remember.

Indigenous Engagement & Wedding Rings

Many of our custom commissions are authentic Northwest Coast formline design engagement rings and wedding bands, created to carry personal meaning, shared stories, and family crests into a piece that marks a couple’s commitment. We work with couples early on and for milestone anniversaries, creating First Nations engagement rings and wedding bands that bring their stories together in a single design. We are honoured to collaborate with Indigenous artists from the Haida, Gitxsan, Kwakwaka'wakw, and Ts'msyen Nations.

Custom Jewelry FAQ

How do I get started?

The easiest and quickest way to get the process moving is to use the contact form on this page. But if you are feeling like you need to talk to someone right away, simply email us at store@crystalcabingallery.com or call us at 1-250-557-4383. Simply share your idea, a general budget, and any inspiration you have. There are no wrong answers as we love hearing your vision and helping it take shape.

What kinds of custom jewelry can I order?

With our background in jewelry design and network of artists in engraving, fabrication, casting, and stone setting, our ability to create a jewelry piece of your dream is limitless. Share your idea, and we will make a plan to bring it to life. We create rings (including wedding bands, engagement rings, and interlocking rings), bracelets, pendants, earrings, and necklaces. Pieces can be made in sterling silver, copper, or gold (yellow, rose or white), or a combination of metals, and can incorporate precious and semi-precious gemstones, including diamonds, emeralds, rubies, and rare artisanal stones.

How long does a custom jewelry piece take?

Timelines vary depending on the complexity of the piece and the artist's schedule. We recommend reaching out as early as possible. We suggest starting the process up to 12 weeks before you need the piece. That being said, if there is a nearing deadline, such as a wedding, engagement, or special birthday or anniversary, we can usually accommodate rush orders.

How do I know my ring size?

Once we've discussed the style and width of the ring you'd like, we recommend visiting a local jeweller in your area to have your finger professionally measured for a ring of that width — ring width affects sizing. We will provide you with specific instructions to bring to your local jeweller. We may also mail you a specific ring-sizing gauge and instructions for taking the best measurement at home. If the ring is a surprise gift, just let us know, and we'll work with you to figure out the best way to determine the ring size.

Can I incorporate a design that is meaningful to me?

Yes, and this is one of our favourite parts of the process. Many of our clients commission pieces that honour a personal story, a milestone, or an animal that holds meaning for them. The artists we work with are skilled at weaving these important elements into their designs beautifully and respectfully. We look forward to meeting you and learning your story!

Can I include gemstones in my design?

Of course! We love the impact of well-placed gemstones in custom jewelry designs, and we accommodate nearly any request. We can source classic stones from diamonds, emeralds, and rubies, to more artisanal stones like opal cabochons, BC jade, or black onyx. Share your vision with us, and we will advise with our best recommendations for integrating these precious and semi-precious stones into your design.

Which artist will create my piece?

We work with jewelry artists from the Haida, Gitxsan, Kwakwaka'wakw, and Ts'msyen Nations, alongside other Northwest Coast Indigenous artists. Once we understand what you're looking for, we'll recommend the artist whose style, expertise, and availability is the best fit for your vision. With our team's deep knowledge of jewelry-making and our artist network, we look forward to working together to ensure your jewelry project is a success!

How much does a custom jewelry piece cost?

Price depends on the type of piece, metal choice, design complexity, size, artist, and whether stones are included. Please reach out to us with the details of your request so that we can provide you with a quote.

Can you create custom engagement and wedding bands without formline design?

Yes. While we specialize in Northwest Coast Indigenous art and jewelry, we also work with clients on custom jewelry projects that do not feature Northwest Coast formline design. This includes engagement rings, wedding bands, anniversary pieces, and other one-of-a-kind jewelry, from detailed designs to simple, classic bands.
