Inspiration Behind Fungus Man:  "He's just a Fungi, making his way to Ts'aaw Gwaii. Insusceptible to weakness, qualified by genus, it's genius. Anchored by his peers, to the common goal he steers. Fungus Man, take us to the promised land.”

Cori Savard created Fungus Man as a way for more people to enjoy the presence of a Haida mask through a limited edition artwork. The piece features Fungus Man, a forest-dwelling being connected to the landscapes of Haida Gwaii. Each casting preserves the original tool marks from the carving process, keeping the hand of the artist visible and honouring the way the mask was first shaped.

This edition offers an accessible way to live with a sculptural work that carries story, place, and the quiet presence of the forest into the home.
